Sail op Scheveningen

Sail op Scheveningen 2019 is the first big Tall Ship event to be organized at Scheveningen. It does not happen often that such big Tall Ships are present in the port of The Hague. Never before has a whole fleet of Tall Ships been at the port of Scheveningen at once. Scheveningen is the finishing port of the Liberty Tall Ship Regatta. The Regatta starts in Rouen in France. On 20 June 2015 the ships will enter the ports of Scheveningen / The Hague during the Sail in Parade.

When the ships are docked in the port, they can be visited by the public every day. The crew is present to show special things about the ship and will tell stories about life on board. As you can see on the website, short sailing trips through the port and at sea can also be booked. You can find more information about these trips at: Cruises‘. On the beach and at the quay there will be various activities, such as: sailing in small boats for children, a boat building competition, activities from the royal navy and KNRM, eating at the various stands at the food festival, shopping at the many stands, learning about fishing and fish preparation, various performances, artists and street theater. A fireworks or light- show will be shown every evening.

On the final day, the ships will form a Sail out Parade at sea, so that they can say goodbye to the people and guests of Scheveningen along the beach and boulevard in succession.

Ships

Ships sail the seas, visiting countries and establishing contacts between people. With the theme of ‘Let’s connect’, Sail op Scheveningen will be the event that makes meetings between people from different countries possible.

The Hague

The Hague is the international capital of peace and justice and has an attractive nautical meeting point with the port of Scheveningen. International law unites countries on every continent in their quest for peace. On that basis, the city now demands a leading role with even more emphasis. Sail op Scheveningen will be a spectacular event and Scheveningen will be an ‘international city of the sea’ on the global scene. A unique opportunity for The Hague, Scheveningen and the Netherlands.
